The American Community Survey (ACS) Housing Unit 5 Year Estimates spreadsheet provides data on the number and characteristics of housing units at the Census Block Group level across three counties in the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area—Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery. It includes information on whether housing units are occupied or vacant, and for occupied units, whether they are owner occupied or renter occupied. These estimates are based on five years of survey data collection, enabling analysis of small geographic areas for housing market patterns.

The American Community Survey (ACS) 1 Year and 5‑Year estimates for Houston, TX provides data on the number of housing units and their occupancy and tenure characteristics. The ACS 5 Year estimates are based on surveys collected over a five year period, which produces more reliable statistics for smaller towns and neighborhoods due to a larger sample size. Use 5 Year Estimates for: Small geographic areas (tracts, block groups, neighborhoods), trend analysis when annual data is unavailable, and/or planning and policy decisions requiring higher reliability. Use 1 Year Estimates for: Large geographic areas (populations of 65,000 or more), more current data for cities, counties, and states, and/or trend analysis of annual data.
